Member organizations enjoy a comprehensive program of services designed to help them be successful in their accreditation and certification compliance efforts:
Standards & Regulatory Interpretation
Members are allowed unlimited access to our in-house panel of consultant experts by phone or email (preferred) to receive answers to questions / interpretation of Joint Commission standards (all manuals) and CMS Conditions of Participation for acute care hospitals. All inquiries are responded to within 48 – 72 hours with a clear and concise answer.
Notification of Changes to Standards and Regulations
CIHQ monitors the Joint Commission and CMS web sites daily as well as official publications by these agencies. Within 3-5 business days, CIHQ notifies member organizations of any new or modified standard / regulation. Each alert summarizes the standard / regulation, its likely impact to members, and recommends compliance strategies. Whenever possible, alerts are limited to one-page in length so that they can be quickly read and disseminated. All alerts are archived in the member’s only section of our web site for future access and reference.
Monthly Audio Conferences
Member organizations are allowed complimentary access to our highly regarded monthly audio conferences. There is no limit to the number of participants that can listen in (e.g. speaker phone).The conferences are 1 – 1.5 hours in length and address key Joint Commission / CMS compliance issues. Speakers are usually CIHQ faculty but outside speakers are used occasionally depending on topic expertise.
All conferences include a copy of the presentation and any associated material. The audio conference is saved as an MP-3 file, and presentations are archived in the member’s only section of our web site and can be accessed by members as often as they wish.
Electronic Resource Library
Member organizations are allowed unlimited access to our electronic resource library. The library holds over 350 template policies, documents, and other tools addressing Joint Commission and CMS requirements. The documents are formatted in Microsoft Word so that they can easily be downloaded and customized. The library is updated regularly with new or revised templates as requirements to Joint Commission standards and CMS regulations are developed or changed.
Comprehensive Reference Library
Member organizations are allowed unlimited access to our comprehensive reference library. The library contains current standards and regulations from CMS, the Joint Commission, and other deemed status agencies in electronic searchable formats. The library also contains accreditation-related periodicals, material from key regulatory agencies, and links to dozens of support documents and related websites.
Annual Education Program
Member organizations are entitled to send two individuals - free of charge - to CIHQ' annual Accreditation & Quality Summit. This 1.5 day program is held each spring. Members pay only travel costs. Participants can take advantage of professional development workshops, best practice information sharing, networking, and receive the latest information in quality and patient safety from experts in the field.
Review of Policies and Procedures
Member organizations are allowed access to CIHQ consultants for unlimited review of major policies to assure that they meet accreditation and certification requirements. It is preferred that these documents be submitted electronically. CIHQ will review the document and – where necessary – suggest revisions to bring the policy into compliance. Most review can be accomplished within 3 – 5 business days.
Assistance with Corrective Action Plans / Appeals
Should a member organization be found out of compliance with a standard or regulation during a Joint Commission / CMS survey, CIHQ will assist the member in drafting the corrective action plan. If a member wishes to appeal a finding, CIHQ will assist the member is drafting the appeal / clarification. CIHQ has an 89% success rate in overturning findings by the Joint Commission / CMS, and a 98% success rate in acceptance of corrective action plans.
Preferential Scheduling & Pricing for On-Site Consulting Services
CIHQ provides a full-range of on-site consulting services. These include facilitation of member organizations Joint Commission annual periodic performance reviews, mock surveys, education programs, focused assistance, and issue resolution. Members receive priority in scheduling consultation services and reduced professional fees. |
